Sorry of a newbee question, but I figured I could get is answered from this board. I have a used Visar that seems to have a slight audio problem. The audio soulds just off a little and kinda tinny. I have use the speaker mic, and it is still the same. Is there some allinement that needs to be done to fix this problem.
Thanks

Nand,
It seems to be acrost the whole range of the audio, not just on particular area.
Thanks

If it is over the whole range, it usually is the speaker that is squashed or has dirt between the front cover speaker felt and the speaker cone. But since the external speaker mic also sounds poor, that may not be the case.
Does the self test tone sound strong and clean? Also realize that the speaker is rather small and you may be comparing it with larger radios.
It is still possible that the audio PA has a problem. There are three sections in the PA. Two are used for the internal speaker and two are used for the external speaker with one of these in common. If there is a problem with the common section, you would have a problem in both.
It is possible that the radio is off frequency. If that is the case, it also shows up on TX and can easily be checked with a frequency counter or service monitor. There is also an adjustment in the service monitor for maximum audio level. It typically sits at 245 I believe. Most other alignments should not cause a problem like this on receive.
