Questions about Radius SM120

Hi,

I was wondering what were the normal operating temperatures of an SM120 UHF at 10 and 25 watts with heavy duty usage?

When used for long conversations (+/- 1-2 mins TX, 2 mins RX cycle) I noticed it gets hot after a few minutes so I installed a CPU fan to cool off the final.

Also, using RSS v4 and v5 I was able to program the frequencies in and operate the unit very well but unable to access the squelch and deviation settings as "model definition file not found" keeps appearing before I can enter the F2 - Service menu.

I've been a radio enthousiast for years but just recently started collecting M gear and information so please bare with me.

From my knowledge usually heat = high SWR but everything seems to be working fine.

Thanks,
Mike

Doesn't really go with your question but how do you set up a scan list???

Just because the radio is getting hot doesnt necessarily mean you have a high SWR. Almost any radio that you Tx for more than 1-2 minutes straight is going to get hot.

Are you using factory RSS or pirated stuff?

I have seen pirated software cause all kinds of problems due to missing overlay files and ect.

Both versions that I have contain (apparently) all the necessary .ovl files and work for everything else but the service menu.

As for the question about the scan list, its setup in the RSS.

To remove a channel from scan (nuissance delete) press and hold the Z (scan) button while in scan on the channel you wish you remove from scan at the time. It will reset upon exiting scan mode.
