Bad ASTRO Spectra Secure Module!?

Post by ssybert »

Me and a friend of mine bought 2 DES-XL modules off a guy on ebay. He sells everything saying: "Selling for friend who's getting out of ham radio". I dont know what the deal with these things is but sometimes they dont work. I suspect they are also the cuase of me getting a FAIL 01/90 on boot up. I'll need to hard cycle the power to get it to go away. Most of the time the radio will boot with a FAIL 09/10 (HW Encryption Error). Anyone else know of these modules failing? Is it common??!

Thanks, Scott.

Ummm, What is your firmware On your astro???????????????????

I am working off my head right now soo hang with me, but if am correct, you have an older firmware which, that module WILL NOT WORK AT ALL on your radio, soo pretty much you will have to sell it off and get an older one.

Ok, my other theory right now, cause I dont have a radio with me no more, umm, did you keyload it yet?

Cause those module, you bought, works GREAT, we have some over here on our side too, and they work with no flaw, only thing was, when put in to and older radio, just didnt work and gave a fail code.

I have learned the hard way to stay away from anything being sold for a friend on eBay. Anyone want to buy an Astro Saber that I bought from someone selling it for a friend on eBay? Trust me, you don't want it. Not only is it not an Astro but it also won't even do 12.5 kHz. in analog.
