Hi,
How to setting communicate Saber between Astro using DES encryption ?
I have Astro Saber w/secure module(DES-XL) and Saber w/secure module(DES-XL).
Setting.
Astro
Secure Hardware Equipped..Yes
Rx Voice/Signal Type..Non-ASTRO
Tx Deviation..5.0kHz
Secure Voice/Signal Type..Securenet
Key inserted via KVL3000.
But, no modulation transmit.(carrier only)
Help!!

Hello,
I had a similar problem with a VHF saber securenet and an VHF XTS3000 and while I'm still analyzing it, I was able to make them talk by turning XL off. When I find the time I plan to get back to it and find out why when both radios were set to des-xl the xts3000 could decode the saber but the saber didn't decode the xts3000 but once XL was shut off both radios worked as they should.
And yes I'm sure both radios have xl encryption in them, at least I know 100% that the XTS3000 has but I'm not 100% sure about the saber, I'll check it more in depth when I get the time.

About me, encoding and decoding cannot be performed via secure module on ASTRO.

I have my saber II vhf talking to my xts3000 VHF in DES, I guess my saber II doesn't have XL encryption in it and once I turned XL off in both radios it worked fine.

Mike,
I have SABER III UHF. My SABER setting is XL enable..N.
and I have two secure module for ASTRO(DES-XL/DES-OFB,DES-XL/DVP).Although I exchanged these modules, I was changeless.
It is a setup of ASTRO that I want to ask you.
