Hi guys.

My Astro Saber batteries are starting to die and I need to reinvest!

I would like two types 1) a small battery for montoring 2) bit larger one for when I feel chatty!

Also I have a older saber charger so if I need a hi-tech one with a recomendation let me know.

I would like to keep them as small as possible but I need to get through a 8-10 hour day of monitoring.

Any of them should get you through a 8-10hour day of monitoring. The Multiplier ones are pretty good in my opinion. If you want small you can go for the lithium ones but you will need a special charger for them.

Get the NTN4596D 1800 MaH monster pack...found 'em on ebay new in the box for ~$30.

No, it's the biggest IS/FM-approved /\/\ battery you can buy for the Saber.

It flares out on the left side to match that outcropping on the top left. With it and the wideband dipole, the radio stands a 1/4 wave tall - 18"

I purchased a couple packs from Multiplier a while back, but was not pleased because they fit very loose on the bottom of the radio (they'd make a nice popping sound, and I was concerned about shearing the battery right off the bottom of the radios.) I returned them and promptly ordered some NTN4595s from Moto (same as the 4596, just not FM certified, therefore not as expensive).

Any of the batteries should last for 8-10 hours of monitoring with some TX. IMO, Astro Sabers with the short batteries look funny, but maybe that's just me. I always run a 4595/4596.

I also have one of these Multiplier packs, and I won't use it outside of the house...it fits too loose and rattles. I use it at home while the /\/\ pack charges.

Astro Sabers with the short batteries look funny, but maybe that's just me. I always run a 4595/4596.

Stay away from the Jabro stuff! Never bought a Jabro that ever fit properly, just my experience, but it seems like everytime I bought a Jabro they just never really fit the radio properly, anybody else ever notice that?

The latch that locks the battery on the radio is different on the Astro Sabers. The batteries are different too. For more info on this ask USPSS, he is the one who told me.
