If you had to pick one of those two radio's, which one would it be. I guess we will say that radio will be used in a conventional system. So overall, those who have used one or both, which one?

I was just wandering why options like hi-low power, repeater-talkaround, and programmable function buttons are listed for the Kenwood but not on the Motorola? Seems to make one lean toward the Kenwwod if you just read the options listed here. I would buy the Motorola before Kenwood due to past experience.

Neither!!!! I am a diehard dedicated Motorola user,however, the HT1250 sucks for public safety use. And what is a kenwood???

Ugh... no offense, but IMO that's a heck of a choice.. kinda like "Do you want to get hit in the head with a bat or a 2x4?"

We have TK380s and HT750s on my department. The TK380s were bought by a member off eBay and I'm not that much of a fan. Besides the fact they're old and beaten up, they seem less like public safety radios than any Motorola radio I've used.

The HT750s aren't my favorites either. You just can't seem to get alerting (QCII) to happen on them, the audio is awfully crackly and noisy, and quite frankly the whole thing doesn't seem the right size. It seems way too small to me.

I still like the MT2000 for conventional and MTS2000 for trunking. Haven't tried an XTS yet.

I would go with the TK-x80 series from Kenwood. They are pretty durable and will do most of the functions the Motorolas will. The really good thing about the kenwoods are they are unlimited scan. You can scan as many or as few channels that you want, as opposed to Motorola you have a max amount of channels you can scan at once.

I like Motorola, but I have to say go with the Kenny!

Don't even bother with the 1250, go directly to the 1550LS. Makes all the others seem less. Has MDC encode/decode, quickcall encode/decode, roughly 256 channels,4 liones of alphanumeric info, voice storage,with LTR trunking. Even if you department doesn't have trunking, if you want any new channel from the FCC you have to go to some sort of trunking.
