Astro 3 rx problem

has anyone else had this problem? My Astro Saber 3 450-520 works fine on all the programed frequencies except for GMRS. Anything in the 462.0000 range sounds as if the radio were right next to a helicopter. I have tried other AStro 3s in the same split and have found the exact same problem with them as well. Strange but true. If someone out there has a similar experience please share. The 462.000 repeaters are conventional by the way. Not trunked or anything fancy at all.

Could there have been a helicopter nearby when you were on GMRS frequencies?

Possibly the VCO cross over frequency is wrong.

Huh?
My AS3 works beautifully on all 8 GMRS frequencies, repeat and talkaround. The only similar problem I've ever encountered is a birdie on 453.600.

I concur---it is most likely that his VCO cross over frequency is hosed. If so, Ouch!

That would be in "tuner" software. Comes with the programming CPS. Use caution when using Tuner, you should make a back-up in tuner before making any changes.
The two recent AS3 (same freq cut) I've seen in tuner had simular VCO cross-over frequencies. Well less than 1Mhz difference between both AS3's.
Having the service manual will help, but if you know what your doing it's not necessary.
For others with working 450-520 AS3's, what is your cross-over frequncy set at? Maybe someone accidently changed the VCO setting without knowing what they were doing.

Do a search for the vco crossovers....some time ago I posted the proper freq's for the different bands and boards. I don't have the info here at work at the moment.

Hey PJ.. Could you post that info again? It never showed up. Thanks for all the help everyone! Sorry it took me so long to post back. By the way... the tuner is only avaliable on CPS?

No, the tuner is available in the regular RSS, if that's what you use. Enter into 'F2-service alignment' from the main menu.
