I have a CDM1550 that displays MDC ID's when people key there radios up. When I key a portable radio up with the same ID as the CDM nothing will show on the display. Is there a way to make this work so the ID will show up on the CDM without changing the ID# in the portable??
I have already changed the secondary ID, The group ID, and the Fleet IDs to make them different in the portable and Mobile but that didn't work. Thanks

Do you have a signalling system set up for MDC ? In the personality menu, make sure you have MDC-X set up in the receive signalling option and set to "or."

A quick run through the help menus doesn't mention if the radio will display an ID the same as it's primary ID or not, that I could find.
Maybe a silly question, but why not change the portable or base station ID? Seems like you're going through a lot of trouble just to make them the same.

If it was that easy I would change the ID..but we use the Select call and call alert alot and it is easier to put in one ID # and no matter which radio you are on it will activate....Thanks

So, let me get it straight...ALL the radios have the same ID? Not just one portable & the base?

Here is an example to help:
All of my radios have ID 1234
All of FF B's radios have ID 4321
The radios could be a base, portable, and mobile. This way whenever that number is punched in for call alert no matter what radio they are on it will set the radio off.

I believe that MDC call alert (and some other functions) expects an acknowledgement from the receiving radio. If you have multiple radios with identical IDs things could get a bit confusing.

I have my radios that I use set to the same ID. That way if someone pages me, no matter if I have my portable, using the spectra in my car, or the one on my desk, they will share the identifier - I just make sure that the others are off when I'm not using them. It works well
If this is for a fire department, you might want to call your Office of Emergency Communication and ask if they have a set list of MDC ID's. The county that I work in, each fd/ambulance is given a block of MDCID's to use, so that the county develops a standard. For Example, the ambulance I volenteer for has 63##. We can use 6300-63EE. The 6 means Battalion (SP) 6, and the 3 means company 3. OEC also wants a list when were done programing so they can alias the dispatch consoles.
Just an idea...

Ok, so if one of your radios initiates the call alert, the CDM will alert, but won't show the "1234" ID, right? If one of FF B's radios initiates the call alert, the CDM will alert, and also show the "4321" ID? Sounds like you already know by that whether or not your radios or FF B's are trying to get a hold of you. I don't see how you'd gain anything by seeing your "1234" ID in the display, since it's the same ID from all your radios. Do the portables you are using have a display & do they show the ID? I'm just curious now, I've never tried it that way.

Alex I have my radios set up the same way as you for the same reason. It won't matter which of 4 radios I am on it will alert me and the other radios are off so they won't get alerted.
I was just trying to figure out why the ID from a potrable with the same ID wouldn't show up and if there was a way around it.
