Systems Saber 1 Controller VHF/UHF swapability

I have all the parts here for a VHF Systems Saber 1 build up except for a controller board for it.

Anyone know if you can swap the VHF Systems Saber 1 Controller Board (the one above the speaker) with a UHF Systems Saber 1 Controller Board ?

Looks like from the service manual that the controller is mainly used for trunking, signalling and display purposes? Again this particular Saber is a Non-Display type Systems Saber 1

Something else I noticed is a number (6.0 on mine) appears on a label on an IC on the Controller Board. I think this may agree with the RSS CON # but have not had the time to confirm.

Thanks,
Eddie

Yes, that should be the CON version. I may be wrong but I think you can swap that front cover board at will. It should take a fresh codeplug and not complain. Maybe others could lend some more info but I don't think the band specific data is stored there.

Casey is correct. You'll need to create a new codeplug with the proper model number and dump it in. I've done it several times, make sure you have a CON7 that way you can get QC2.

What version of syssaber rss supports con 7? I've only ever seen con 6 supported in versions of syssaber I've played with.

I'll have to check my version of RSS , I think it's 4.0 something, it does support CON7 , however I have never been able to overwrite a con6 with it.

As usual the Parts have yet to come in via snail mail but I will leave an update on the progress when I give it a try.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
