Problem with HHCH and HLN6092 Y cable

Hello everyone,
I purchased a HHCH for my W7 radio, got a little help on the model # hacking, picked up the front interface board required for an A3
and viola... the radio's now an A3. Worked great but the HHCH was directly connected to the radio. This wasn't going to work so I found someone selling a HLN6092 Y-Cable and bought it. After I installed everything, the radio wouldn't work. I tried powering the 15pin accessory connector hanging off the HHCH side of the y cable, didn't help, I even tried simultanously adding power to the 15 pin connector on the radio. Still nothing. Then I tried to move the control cable from the port labeled CONTROL CABLE to the other one... Shouldn't be a big deal, right? Work fine on othe spectras... Well, apparently not in this configuration. Seems when you do that things start smoking inside the Spectra.Took everything apart and plugged the head back into the radio DIRECTLY with the 15pin accessory connector in the back of the radio powered up and everything worked fine. Anyone have any idea why this isn't working? Seems to be something wrong with this cable or my Y - accessory configuration. I can't figure it out... seems straight foward to me but apprently isn't.
Thanks all,
Scott.
