Used Quantars...what are they worth?

depends on the date of manufacture... but
$4k is certainly a fair price for a $15k-$20k repeater (depending on options)

$4K is low for a high power Quantar that hasn't been trashed, with one caveat: some of the earlier units had an unreliable power supply module. I believe these could be identified with an "Onan" label and a cooling screen covering the entire front panel (versus the smaller circular cooling screen in the later PSMs). If you have the older PSM, figure on replacing it forthwith and figure the cost of that replacement in your acquisition cost.

My 2 cents:
1. The Qunatar is WAY overdue for replacement. It's been out for 12 years now. The Quant replacement is supposedly all ready to go, but M Mktg has been sitting on it. Latest word is "VERY soon." When this new IMBE machine hits the street, it will have many new and powerful features, such as very rich VoIP capabilities (e.g., for control over the Inet, etc.), underlying APCO P25 Phase II upgrade capabilities (which the Quantar does NOT have), etc. making the Quant a much less valuable machine, especially going forward. Once the new machine hits the market, there go the eBay values for used Quants right down the tubes.
2. Most of the time these used machines are only equipped for analog operation. The IMBE uplift is around $4,000, just for the firmware. Watch out for this one very closely.
3. $4k for a used Qunatar seems really high. I have seen lots of clean Quants for around $2,500, or less, even for the 225 watt Quantro.

Finally got a round to reading one with RSS...
Serial is 509CUC****
Will see them again on Monday..anything I should be looking for that would help me determine the value of the units (as for as cards, modules etc) ?

From the service menu you can go to F6 then F3 to get the firmware version of the scb, wireline, and exciter modules.
