What radios will this work with, and will it work on conventional modes?

It is (was) intended to control a Spectra Desktop Station or Desktrac Desktop Station.
This is not your standard local control, tone or DC remote. This is DIGITAL

. A special “junction box” is required.

Here is the DGTs replacement.

The MC3000 will control the same PLUS the MCS2000 (model 3)

XMO had posted some details about DGT's sometime last year. There are more DGT9000 models that you can shake a stick at, and I believe some of them could work with Astro Spectra consolettes. Try a search & see what comes up. The DGT acted as an 'extended control head', giving you most of the options you would normally have right at the radio. The DGT has it's own RSS for programming things such as mode names. There was also the RCH3000 series, which came inbetween the DGT9000 & MC3000 series units. These later series didn't require their own RSS, they got their information such as mode names directly from the radio itself.
