Problem with Progamming

I built the batlabs RIB, and cables as per the disgrams provided.

I am trying to read / program a Moto GM950Plus using 5.0.0.2 version of the GMPLus software (which runs under windows).

The problem i am having is.. under windows 98, as soon as i power up the rib, the mouse starts flashing with the HOUR glass, and the pc becomes uncontrollable. When the rib is switched off or the cable removed I regain control.

Under Windows 3.1x on the same machine, i do not get the mouse going crazy, but i do not get any response from the radio.

the DTR (Busy Out), CTS and RI (Busy In) go crazy switching states.

By switching off RI or CTS or DTR the mouse becomes controllable again.

Any clues?

You CANNOT safely run RSS in Win95/98/ME/2K/XP/NT. Try booting from a DOS disk! Note I said boot FROM a DOS disk. Do not boot into an MS-DOS prompt, it still won't run safely. I use a P166 that I boot from a DOS disk and with the exception of Saber & MCX1000, I haven't had any problems running RSS.

The software only runs under windows..

Are the mouse and comm port trying to use the same IRQ? Sounds like a conflict going on.

The mouse is PS/2

I have tried com1 and com2 same result on both ports

I am sure its in the rib, but just cant fathom it.

has anyone got any test voltages to work from?

that may help solve the problem.

I do know that the icl7660 is working properly..

i have a negative and positive voltage rail - (mind you I read it as 4.95v) but i assume that is within tolerance.
