I'm certainly not a guru when it comes to pagers. Does anyone know of a two-tone pager (doesn't have to be Motorola) that leaves some sort of indicator, be it a light or interval beeping, when it has recieved a page? A client is looking for this in case the page is missed for some reason. My Pocsag Advisor pager on the local Telco's system has both an audible & visual indicator if you don't view the page, but i've never seen this on a two-tone type. Any input is welcome.

Some of the Minitor II's that I've seen have a red LED on top that will do this until reset.

Our FD has about 40 Min. IIs, but none of ours do this.

What's the deal here?

A complaint we always had with Minitor II's was that if the guy was in the shower or whatever and missed the page, he wasn't aware the pager went off till the dispatcher transmitted again (it would be in monitor mode, with the squelch keeping the pager quiet)
To address this, we simply added a diode that latched the pager audio open so the pager would roar with open squelch till the reset was pushed, or turned to monitor position. Just remember to remove it before sending the pager in for service!

Email me with your fax number and i'll fax you how to do it if your interested.

The Minitor III latest software allows you to set "Reset" to "Manual" which will do the same thing.

Don't ya just love that little smiley guy!

Thanks for the Minitor III tip! I'll see if that's acceptable. If it turns out they already have Minitor II's, I'll definitely contact you for the mod. Thanks Bruce.

The only pagers that I have found with a missed page alert is the Minitor II SV, the III probably does it also,
the Keynote and the Director II also go into open squelch after a page but lack the monitor function

You can also get Mintior II chargers that have an alert light that you have to manually reset. Back in my fire Dept. days I used a Minitor II amplifer charger that had the relay built in.

We purchased several of the home automation plug in modules from radio shack to turn on lights and whatever using the burglar alarm relay. That way, when ever the pager was activated everyone knew, the nice thing is that you can move them around as needed. All total we spent (including the charger from Motorola) less than $300.

Minitor III SV has both a call indicater light and audible tone if you have an unanswered call (very annoying). All in the programming.

Wavtar, I haven't played with it yet, I will in the next day or two. According to the Minitor III RSS one can set for a call light to remain on for a call alert. Two lights on the top of the pager, Red and Amber. I imagine this option would work well with Stored Voice. I'll drop you an email after I have put this together and tried it, but I would imagine it works on all models. If you need the part # for the Minitor II charging stand with the alert light, I have one laying I could get it for you.

Another one that will do this is the Director IISV. These you can monitor with (by holding down squelch) but have two options - page, and vibrate. If it recieves a call (in vibrate mode), a red light goes on at the top, and 16 or 32 seconds later, the pager vibrates. The red light will stay on until you listen to the message stored on the pager.

These are the only ones that I have seen do this, unless you have a amplified base that has the "ALERT" light, or a charging stand with the light, and antenna port.

The only thing I don't like about Directors is the ability to monitor, and mine has a sh*ty front end. Whenever I talk on my spectra, the pager opens up, or vibrates.

Hope this helps.

After looking at the Minitor 3 RSS I was incorrect. The Minitor 3 with Stored Voice has the option of a beep alert that goes off until unplayed messages are played. Don't know how it works as i do not have a Stored Voice model to play with. Sorry about the misinformation.

hey, i have a minitor III SV and each time i have a call the red light on top stays on until you play back the stored voice. when you play back the message for the first time the amber light and the red light stay on till the message is complete. you can have the pager programmed to give an audible or vibrating alert every two minutes till the message is played back. mine does not have the reminder alert i just have the light alert

The Nova is a GREAT little voice pager, the only complaint we have about them is the price...they are proud of them, but since the Keynote is gone, it stepped right in.

Alex,

I've had the very same thing happen to me on occaision with my Minitor IISV while driving and transmitting with my HT1000.
I keep my pager attached on the visor and while the pager is set to alert, it gets me everytime! Glad to see I'm not the only one. :o
