Hello all,

I have an opportunity to trade for a good looking VHF Astro Saber I R portable, model H04KDC9PW5AN. Well i have never seen nor heard one of these and i was just wondering if anyone has delt with this particular radio and i would like some imformation on them. Are they good radios? How many channels, band split ect. Also it needs a battery and i was just curious if it took standard Saber batteries. Any help would be appreciated.

well, great radios.

but

you need a $150 battery... and no, standard saber batts will NOT work.

32 channels, two "zones" of 16

and

no belt clip - you have to stuff it in a holster

but

ONE HELL OF A TOUGH RADIO!

I agree with Doug.

Cool to add to a Saber collection.
Or if you really need a unit that can stand just about any abuse you can put it thru.

But for an everyday talker, stick to the standard line.

Thanks for the reply's, that answers my question. I'll just keep my eye out for a regular VHF Astro Saber III.
