The KVL3000 is FLASHport upgraded with a PCMCIA card that fits into the slot at the top, behind the rubber cover.

Motorola distibutes these, just like the FLASHport dongles they ship for FLASH upgrading their mobile and portables. It too has a decrement counter that counts down after every unit is FLASHed, so once the PCMCIA card reaches 0, you cannot FLASH any more units!

The bug fix for the version R03.52.22 firmware (SRN S-0123) mentioned here in the ASTRO forum by r0f, will be distributed in this method.
