Will a Astro Saber TX below 145.000 properly?

Post by jjbond »

Hi all, I use to have a secure Saber III VHF that I LOVED.... the only reason I sold it was because one of my local two meter machines is 145.330 -.600 and the Saber wouldn't TX below 145.00 so I sold it and picked up a MTS2000 to replace it. I love the new full keypad MTS BUT... I miss my Saber and I love the flat form factor of the Saber, it fit in the back pocket of my jeans HEAPS better than this MTS. So, my question is this... was that a Saber only issue? If I bought an "Astro" Saber, would that work out for me (ie: go below 145.00 on TX? There is no APCO stuff around me here in King County so all I use my portable for is two meter and rx of some VHF hi-band stuff so fancy flashcode stuff probably isn't needed for me I guess, any other justification on going to an Astro? Is it the same wattage out as my MTS?

Anyone wanna trade? hahaa

Thanks all
Jen

I have a whored out Nick radio, and it transmits/receives 144.500 range - never tested it below that, but above 144.5, it works just fine.

I wonder if your radio just needed a good service alignment......

The VHF Astro Saber bandsplit is 136-174 MHz....it'll cover everything you need.
