Samsung XTS3000?
I recently saw a portable radio with SORN (Sydney Olympic Radio Network) labels, identical in appearance to an XTS3000, but it had a Samsung badge on the front. Is this thing just a rebadged XTS3K, or a different radio?

Mr Syntrx,
The Samsung "SORN" (Sydney Olympic Radio Network) XTS3000's are just rebadged Motorola XTS3000's. The reason that the are Samsung badged is because Samsung were the "official" communications provider for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Some of these radios were programed with "SP" software.

Yes indeed, motorola stickers off, samsung stickers on, how can you be the official communications company and taken seriously if you don't even make something or are specialized in the area in which you are supposed to work....I wonder if Motorola was given hard time ordering the from Samsung, I mean if samsung wanted to put Motorola stickers on their gear, they would probably be told they cant order sticker packages like us, right? Think about that one.

Hello. I've seen something similar a few years ago here in Miami. Ericsson sponsored a tennis event and was furious the security guards were all using GP's 300's. They demanded Ericsson radios be used. The guard company told them that since this was their event and they were in the radio business, if they could supply 200 radios on the correct freq's the next day, they would be glad to use them. Ericsson said they needed more time so they came to an agreement. If all the Motorola decals on the GP 300's would be covered with black electrical tape for the duration of the event, all would be cool. World leaders should learn from this. 73's from sunny hot south Florida. N4KVE GARY
