Hi:

If you do a little research, you will most likely
find this has been covered a number of times.

If your radio worked OK before, and you made
a change, and it no longer works, chances
are " very high" you now have a corrupted
code plug.

This can range from the use of Cheap Rib
Boxes, Cables, and or using a computer running too fast.

The ideal platform for MT1000's is a 386-486-25
Series Computer running DOS 6.00 / 6.22

Ideal Rib box is a Motorola Factory Rib, with
Battery and Power Supply. Known good
program cable and RSS.

If you are using a cheap Rib, this is the biggest
area of concern, if you are using a Solder Glob
type program cable, that will make it worse.

Anyhow, if you can't get it to play again, I am
good at restoring them along with many other
fellow Forum members.

Clue us in on the type of programming platform
you have, and we can start from there.

MT1000 needs a SLOOOOOOOOW computer.

Monty always sujests a 386/25, and I find my Tosi 286/10 always works on the older MT's.

is that by chance one of those POC MT1000's that you bought from digital/analog at the Williams hamfest this past weekend ? If so then theres your answer why it doesn't work.

Here is some info from the MT1000 RSS manual:

Error Code: 03
Problem Description: Busy low time out
Possible Corrective Actions: 1. Check that the radio is turned on
2. Check radio's battery
3. Check Com. port selection in SETUP

This is not terribly helpful, but try all three to make sure. If you still get problems, my guess is that the time-out is due to the speed of the PC you are using so try to read it from another PC.

The radio will go Beep just after turning on, if not the microprocessor in the radio may not have finished it's
boot-up process, setting the busy line. You can check the
state of the BUSY line with a voltmeter on the options
jack, programming cable disconnected.

If the code plug is corrupted, and you have access to a clone cable, try cloning. I've had good luck bringing them back from dead by cloning with a known good radio.

Give me alittle to setup the platform and I'll have a codeplug ready. MT1000 VHF 99 ch. This will only work though if your programming setup is in tune. If not then as I said before throw it in a box, ship it out, and I'll load my codeplug into it with my setup. I'll even pay to ship it back to you. but you only need to send the head. no battery or antenna needed.

Suggestion only
