I hope this is the correct forum for this question.. I would like to hook up an ampliflied speaker to my ASTRO portable radio. Is there a part that would attach to the connector on the radio (that is now used for the remote microphone/speaker) that would temminate in a mini-phone jack that I could use for this purpose? Would this be similar to the part that motorcycle police use to connect their astros to the mic/spkr in their helmet? If Motorola makes this part a part # would be very helpful.. Thanks for any info you can provide...

The only Motorola supported way to provide amplified rx audio would be to use an XTVA, which is essentially a portable-to-mobile conversion kit. They can be had with or without an RF amplifier as well.

I suppose one could use the rx audio output available in the threaded 3.5mm jack in a regular speaker/mic (NMN6191 or NMN6193...$40 on ebay) and run it to the XTVA amplified speaker (HSN1000). However, the speaker requires 12Vdc to work...nor is it cheap (unless ebay has one).

Thanks for the reply.. I have an amplified speaker..so I guess what I'am looking for is a mini-plug on the end of what would have been the microphone end of the coiled cord that connects to the astro radio connector block. Is there such an animal? I have sen motorcycle officers that have a connection jack/plug that goes between the radio and their helmet so they can remove their helmet but still leave the ASTRO on the sam browne belt. This might work maybe??? Thanks..
