Saber SI versus MTS2000

Hi,
Does anyone have the time or interest to explain the differences between the two radios. Searching through old topics did not seem to yield much info.

Reading posts about RSS for the Saber SI, it would seem that both radios share similar internal components.

If the SI can be read/written with MTSX software, can the MTS be read/written with SI software?

Thanks, Eric

put that radio out of your mind.

every single one i have ever seen has issues....

the software was never stable, and it's NLA from Moto.

it's a TRUE motorola Bastard Child... and they won't even talk to you about it.

yes, it did share a SIMILAR RF board with jedi... and similar software.

they are collectors items.. that's it...

But that still leaves the question unanswered:

I too have wondered what that radio is about-- just out of curiosity--even if its a P.O.S.

Was it made before the MTS was available in 800mHz? or was it supposed to be the same radio in the Saber form-factor?

I plead ignorance here but are there features on the Saber Si that are not available in the 800 MTS? or maybe the other way around?

One final question I have always wondered is WTF does "Si" stand for anyway???

same time frame - was designed to carry over all saber accy's (chargers, mics, etc) from departments switching from saber to 800Mhz.

no, the MTS controller has come full circle (smartzone, MPL, etc) the saber Si controller never had those features .. mainly b/c the radio was trashed before those things existed.

Si ?

In spanish, it's "YES" - as in "YES, it doesn't work"

honestly, i dunno........

you'll have to pardon my sarcasm.

i am just tired of seeing Si's bring $600+++ on ebay when deceptive sellers make them out to be "digital radios"... playing on the fact that at first glance the Si looks just like the Astro Saber (duh)

it just gets under my skin - b/c in essence, the seller has sold the unwary buyer a freakin' BRICK.

No need to explain,

I was just curious as I could find little information with regard to the Si myself.

I appreciate the education.
