Thanks to Batwing for providing a great resource, Hoffis for the specific codeplug change details, and the folks in the forum for inspiration - my first 4-channel P110 is now a 16-channel GP300 in a brand new housing.

Minor question on the housing, which I got from ECSradio.com: The rubber cover on the PTT switch has a 'hump' in the middle. I've never seen one like it before, though I've mostly seen mid-90's era GP300s. Did Moto make a change to that part, or is mine a fluke? Not complaining, just curious.

The PTT button has a metal reinforcement behind it which will cause what you describe when bent. Easy fix- pop off the bezel which goes around the PTT and option buttons,
remove the rubber and straighten out the metal, re-install. About 3 min. worth.

Sure enough - The copper reinforcement had a slight bend in the middle, which was easily fixed. Thanks!

I kinda like the "bump", I can feel where the center of the PTT is. I mite give the conversion a try and thank you for the info and inspiration.

My main concerns were that the bump might make it more vulnerable to accidental PTT presses, and possibly might affect the overall water resistance in that area. (I personally like the appearance of the flat button better, probably because that's what I'm used to seeing.)

I too just completed a couple of these conversions, one pre-1994 model and one post 1994. Both went without incident. Thanks to everyone who contributed information to BATLABS, Hoffis, and this discussion board. All of you are a tremendous asset to this site.
