I've got a really nice Micom-X that has just been sitting in my basement for quite some time. It is lacking a power supply, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any more info about what I need to get.
I've had people tell me that these radios require 24 volts, and I think I've even seen one of the power supplys for one that IS 24 volts; but I have also read on the internet (eham I think) that 12 volts work.
If I can in fact use 12 volts, anyone have the part number/pinout for the plastic plug?

I have never seen a Micom that runs on 24 volts and I sincerely doubt they ever made a 24 volt model...I own (at least) 1 of every model of micom that ever graced this planet, (I collect alot of wierd motorola s**t) and they are all 12v...did you not a while ago post about not being able to program it and later found out you had the keyswitch in the wrong position? the X series is an ok radio, basically a modified "s" w/ a new front panel...the xr/xf came in two versions, the later being better in that it is all surface mount components, they eliminated one of the two oscillators that made the thing fly, (a good idea when considering we're talking ssb!) , and has a totally solid state harmonic filter...sooner or later you are going to have problems w/ the filter (the "x" has reed relays in it) as you switch between the 5 bands that comprise 2- 30 mhz...you could have either a 2 pin power plug or 3....the top one is positive, 2nd one positive (if you have it) 3rd negative...(looking down from the top of the radio)... double check w/ an ohmmeter, one lead to chassis, other to "bottom" pin, should show close to zero ohms...as for current, I can look it up when I get home and update, my guess around 20 amps peak w/ modulation...be careful not to use an older style switching power supply as these generate alot of noise in the hf bands! p.s. it is a standard "molex"plug, both styles available from major parts suppliers or any decent electronics parts stores, what few are left anymore (only one left in the entire state of new jersey!)...you don't want to deal w/ motorola, as it was never really made by motorola Chicagoland.....made in Israel, (along with the "intracs" if any of you out there remember them) supported by a company in Florida who has no great interest in dealing with civilians unless you hound them alot (I'm speaking from experience!)
