hello. i am knew to this soo please go easy
my bro bought a police radio on ebay it says xts5000 on it. he has a cable from his other friend thta hooks to a computar machine. it is usb. the softwear we are usiing says R04.01.00. it has a pictur of the xts5000 on the front of the screen so i am sure its the write softwear.
ok so when i click the READ butten it reads the radio but when i try to programe the police in it from the list on trunkedradio.net it says something about a system key? what is a systrm key? I surched the google and yahoo and didint find much. on ebay i surched for motorola key and found this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 5713986103
ok so if i get this system key i guess it needs to match the system id write? i see the key on the auction has the numbar 2135 and 2553 on it. does this numbar have to match the system id from trunkedradio.net information? please let me now before the auction end's. and also ware does the key pluggin to the radio? does it attach to the computer machine?

Kyle;
Your going to want the hose keys on eBay. I've seen a few on there lately, so you should be able to get those . You should try to find the XTS5535 or XTS 5596 keys though, its kinda like the master key for ANY system you want.

by nmfire10
Oh fine.
You need to buy all three keys. They are then inserted into special keyslots inside the radio. You need to turn all three key switches on at the same time. It is a security feature to prevent unauthorized people form programming the radio on police channels. Make sure you also get the keys that Matt described!
Once all three keys are on, you then be able to connect the radio and write to it. But make sure your interface is running on a 24 volt AC power supply. You can't use a normal power supply to write to an XTS.
After you write the radio, you can remove the keys and away you go.

Keyloader.

by Matt
Bryan brings up a good point, if you want to do ANY encryption work, you'll have to hook the keyloader up to your radio. the keyloader helps with the photonic voltage being brought up to the speed it needs to be run at (57.372 kph)

The most important thing of all is that all the high tech radio systems use a PL of 60hz!

Anything goes when you get bored these days...
Especially with nothing exciting on the radio front. Like you've "never" done this to someone at a hamfest? I take pride in it!!!!

Oy.
Guys. Seriously.
This guy is coming here for help and instead y'all are making fun of him.
A system key is a file you need to program trunking information (control channels, System ID, etc...) into your radio.
These files are only given to System Managers, so finding one online might prove to be very difficult. Look hard though, and I'm sure you'll find something that works for you.

Assuming you're really a kid and not someone trying to pull our chain (and your almost intentional lack of english skills is really pushing me towards the conclusion this is someone trying to be funny).... You're dealing with things that will potentially get you into a *LOT* of trouble.
Go buy a scanner, kid... save yourself and your parents future grief. If you are indeed telling the truth, you obviously don't possess the knowledge or brains needed to responsibly program and use a two way radio for monitoring a trunked radio system. You have absolutley no business treading where you want to go.
But... there is *no* chance this message is real. It's too perfectly crafted to get in the craw of some of the people here. If it is true, this retard won't figure out how to program anything, much less enough to wreak havoc on his local police's radio system (grin)
Sigh

Here's the truth - The System Admins always have the system keys.
What are the System IDs of the police systems you want to monitor? We can then help you locate the Admins for those systems so you can ask them for permission to program your radio.
They are always eager to talk to folks like yourself and I'm sure they would explain everything in person. They're very nice people and some agencies may even invite you to stay for a while.
So what are those System IDs?

Alright.. I'll play along. I'll pretend this is serious.
Here are some sage points of advice I'll share with you, son....
1) Tell your brother to sell the radio and buy a scanner
2) Tell your brother to sell the radio and buy a scanner
3) Tell your brother to sell the radio and buy a scanner
4) Tell your brother to sell the radio and buy a scanner
5) Read this link:
http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=23682
6) Tell your brother to sell the radio and buy a scanner
7) Tell your brother to sell the radio and buy a scanner
Read r0f's Newbie's Guide to Astro Radios, you'll find out why your radio's useless, especially if you've got zero experience working with radios, and why you should TELL YOUR BROTHER TO SELL THE RADIO AND BUY A SCANNER.

Listen kid. It is painfully obvious that neither of you are capable of handling this. It is not an insult, it is just a fact.
SELL THE RADIO AND BUY A DIGITAL SCANNER.
Period. End of story. No further worrying needed. Look no more.

For the resale cost, you could get 2 Radio Shack digital scanners that will come already programmed for what you want to hear.
For the price, it's a great deal.
Or just buy one and spend the rest at an arcade, eh?

Look around on Ebay for GE keys as well, that way you can monitor Edacs systems. One thing to be aware of when using used keys is to make sure you clean any rust or dirt off them before using them. The smallest bit of dirt on a key could cause a major "Exotic key checksum" error.

If he's 14 maybe he should be spending his money on some remedial spelling tutoring... maybe save the scanners for when you're able to communicate like a functioning member of society.
I'm not being mean, I'm being realistic.. If you're 14 and spell like that, you perhaps should re-arrange your priorities.
but hey, like Apco25 said, tis but a troll (grin)

OMFG, this is by far the funniest thing I have read on Batlabs.
We now have a thread that supercedes the "Smellroy Stetson" thread on the original batlabs forum.

Yeah kid.. you do that..
Tell them this:
a) You have an XTS5000
b) You want to program it up on your local radio system
c) You want system keys
d) You want a copy of Lab RSS in order to do this
I think then you'll quickly find out what the score is. Hell, I'll even give you the quarter.
Please, someone give this kid the phone number!
please response to me if you now mores a bout the systam keys
I know all about system keys.

Is this a display model cause then you'll be able to put labels in... Like
FYRE TAK 1, POLEECE, PHARAMEDIK, DIENAMIK REGROUPER
What you need is the version 4.02 RSS ( Remedial Spelling System) and please make sure you check SMARTSPELL for network coverage

Make sure you tell Motorola what version of Software you have, too. It will enusure they use the correct metal when grinding your system key.

by 10-95
And beware of duplicate System Keys, all official systems keys are made by Chicago lock co. Beware as duplicates can compromise the integrity of your radio and cause the dreaded" CPS Lock out exotic checksum error 101"

Be sure to get the blue tooth optional headset!!
If you get these, you can write your own system keys!!! This would be the advanced RSS options - will allow you to do all sorts of encryption! A classic!
