I was using MTX900 and Maxtrac RSS software yesterday and I had no problems at all. Now today I tired to program some more and I came up with the Error "Power Failure" when I was trying to read the codeplug from the radio, I have tried everything I can think of to figure out why it would work one day and not the next. I'm fairly compitent when It comes to computers and everything like that, so please don't post stuff about not using the correct COM ports and stuff. I did change the Baud rate and IRQ settings after I programmed the first time for another applacation, but I then changed them back but now it doesn't work? What should be the correct settings for the RSS software?
Any help apperciated?

Hi:
Will assume you have a stable programming
platform from the beginning. Generaly a 486-25, Factory Motorola Rib Box, Power Supply,
Internal battery is considered pretty stable.
Many times the light on the Rib Box is still
Visible, but not good enough to program a radio. This has been a fatal Prorgramming problem with " High-End" Motorola radios so
I would recommend a Fresh Battery, and ALWAYS
use the External DC Power Support when possible.
Also, make sure your " Radio " battery is fully Charged, or the use of a External Battery support is recommended too.
I have seen a few cases where a MTS2000 battery dies during the last few seconds of
the programmimng cycle, and then BOOM no more
radio. Motorola's great way of making 279.00
to fix them
If you are using a faster computer, I would
definately make sure the internal Cache is DISABLED.
DO not try and program DOS based programs from within WINDOWS. ( period )
Make sure all your cables are tight and secure, and go to the " Set up" Screen and
use the " com check" to see if your Program
is communicating with the radio.
Also, you can switch between Com 1 or Com 2
and see if one or the other works. Not wise
to SHARE Com ports....
