Hi,
Is NTN8255 des-ofb des ONLY or does it support xl too?
The reason I´m asking is that the replacement for this part number does both des/ofb and des-xl.

Read the post by '515' in this link, he indicates it's OFB only.

Thanks Todd.
I did read this topic but I´m a little confused when it comes to the xts-line. I have had some probs geting never UCM modules working in my xts (which originally came from Nick) so I was told that older modules might work instead. As far as I understand Nick used older firmware in his radioes which cannot support the never UCM module I have.
The question here was if the mudule would do des-xl and you cleared that up for me. So now I know I cannot use that part no. either
Here´s another question do you know then what specific module part no. I should purchase according to the probs I mentioned? Or if there´s any way around the probs with the UCM modules I have had?
I don´t know if you ever have had one of Nicks radioes in but there´s got to be someone out there who purchased a similar radio and tried to install des-xl

I have a DES-XL/OFB module in my XTS3500, and I have no problems. I have a plain OFB in a Nick UHF 3000, and a XL-OFB for a 800 XTS3000 that was a legitly made radio.
I have keyloaded the DES-XL module in the 3500, and tested it with an astro spectra with no issues...
I haven't tried the UHF yet... just finally got the cables I needed yesterday.

Alex,
If you should ever decide to sell your DES-XL module for your XTS3500 please email me. I have been looking for a module for over 2 years now with no luck.
Thanks

Hmm,
Sounds like I might have a major problem with my xts3000 Alex.
One other thing I experienced after purchasing it was that it´s very slow unmuting when in astro mode. Perhaps the whole radio has a serius problem. My ASIII works perfect and it came from Nick too by the way but again the xts is far from the same.
And about the UCM module I have there has been different versions on how to act in order to get it working. Some say that you need to enter a special password to activate the module first time some say the module isn´t compatible with the firmware etc.
I wish I knew what to do and what to believe.

if you haven't already, TUNE THE XTS - or GET SOMEONE TO TUNE IT.
most of nick's whoreflash radios are so f-ed up right outta the box that they never work right until they are aligned.
i doubt you have a secure problem as long as the radio is taking a valid key from your loader....

I think you´re right about the tuning.
I just don´t know any capable of doing it here as these radioes havn´t been sold around here. The xts does not take a key. It says 09/10 regardless of the fact that the board has been properly installed. The radio asks for a password and when I press the purple button (with out pressing any digits) it´s like it powers up just with out activating the module. Very strange.
