i just recieved two spirit su42 portables. anyone know what you need to program, cable ? which software ?

They're not programmable. They have 464.50 and 464.55 business freq's.
in them only.

Hello.

Programmimg, if you want ot call it that, is done by selecting a BCD address.
The deluxe :lol: model has a set of DIP switches at the bottom of the board, next to the battery terminal.
The standard model has a set of jumpers soldered in place.
You can easily turn a standard model into a deluxe, just solder in the dipswichs.
The next model up has a channel selector, but this is not called a spirit.
Same thing, you can solder the header to the board and add the correct top plastic parts, and you have an 8, or 16 channel radio, depending on the EEPROM.
You could change the EEPROM from the GMRS model and make it work, but that is just about as far as you can go with it.
It is an inexpensive radio, so judge your efforts.
