Spectra A4 to A9 upgrade! Is it possible?

Hi gang!

I'm a newbie to the board as well as to the world of programming these radios. I have, perhaps, a dumb question.

I have a Spectra A4 and want to use an A9 head instead of the stock rotary A4 head. After programming my frequencies as well as the buttons through RSS, the head unit displays Mode 0, and does not function. Code plug has been verified, and the A4 head was placed back on / reprogrammed and unit works fine with the A4 head.

If this CAN be done, could someone give me the steps / info needed to accomplish???

Thanks a ton!

Before you get yelled at by the Mods:

Please post your info in only one forum. This keeps the board cleaner and then those of use who post don't have to keep running between threads.

This is an ongoing thread in the General forum.

The Search button works wonders here....

You need to have the A9 on the radio, then read the radio, set the control head type, then you have to re enter you alpha names for each mode. Then write back into the radio.
