Need to install in an ambulance, a Maxtrac dual head for calling patient reports to hospitals, plus an encoder.

All of the hospitals have radios the decode these 1500 pulsed tone stuff (plus DTMF). The fleet currently has encoders by Data Signal Inc, the ME-800. I can't find any info on the net about this particular encoder, so I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about it, or where I can find something compatible that will easily interface with a Maxtrac.

Thanks in advance.

The HEAR system, hospital emergency administrative radio, used to use "rip and step" decoders(pulsed 1500hz), but most now use DTMF decoders to open the receiver in each hospital. Check with the HEAR administrator in your area. A simple encoder can be attached to the mic jack of any Maxtrac/Radius radio for encoding DTMF, also fixed encoders can also be used. Look up Communication Specialists, Orange, CA 1 800 854-0547.
Also there are DTMF mics availabile from Motorola and others.

Will,

Thanks for info. The HEARsystem is exactly what I am trying to set this stuff up for.

The reason I am looking for info on this ME-800 from Data Signal, Inc, is the rest of the fleet has it. Just trying to keep things consistent, if at all possible. I'll check the source you mentioned.

Maybe the question I should ask everyone, is if you were going to do this kind of job...What type of "mobile encoder" could recommend? I realize that the radios will encode preprogrammed sequencies, but would like for it to be a bit more flexible.
