does the maxon radio,come programmed,the one i got has 2 priority channels,and 12 are programmed into it,and when i press the mic,the rx light comes on,the guy that sent it to me,knows nothing about it,it was given to him new.i havent heard anyone talking on it.can my local radio tech,program it?thank you.

MAXON PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

Buy the programming interface module part number ( 5lbx3ft ) a large round interface tool, that resembles a sledge hammer. Proceed to access the memory command board by rapidly applying the interface tool to the outer case until you have removed the casing and the memory commands board is exposed. After that, apply 12 VOLTS DC, at 680 AMPS, to the smaller chip located in the center of the memory commands board. There should be atleast one on there, you will notice the "poofs" of ozone that become amisted in the area right above the radio while applying the recommended current to the "commands memory chip". In the ozone that is created from the reaction, you will be able to see the memory programming information.
Take this information and go to a reputable radio seller, such as the ones on the "Batlabs For Sale" web forum. Give them whatever amount of money requested after you state what the requirements are you need from your radio. Thats it !

And that is how you reprogram a MAXON two way radio.

smokey? Call your local radio tech(s) and give them the make and model number of the radio. They will know whether or not they have the proper equipment to program your radio. If they don't, then you might try a google search, to see if you can find someone nearby who is a service center.

No. That's the RIB for the Uniden Farce crystal controlled radio series. Essentially, you are retuning the channel element. Care must be exercised, as you can easily corrupt the codeplug (that's what goes into the wierd connector above the PTT (Push Then Toss) button) resulting in the unit reverting back to a default of all channels 0 MHz.

I have had such experiences with similar units. We had a standard brand 16 ch portable with a speaker mic and the whole bit, when asked to program it, we could never figure it out. So we stated so to the owner, where we found out he wanted to use it on CB ch 19. After he found out it wasn't possible, he said we were the new owners, where we then took the unit to see how far it would fly.
The guy I was working with at the time was working on a pumpkin chucking device for an upcoming day off. I can only tell you it went FAR, and I mean FAR. hehe.

You say we are coming in 5x9 ? Huh, I thought it splattered more like 10x35. Great day for all.

the smp4004c is what programs most of the current maxon stuff except the newest models
all cable and software.

and as far as starter radios not bad. I had 2 to start but then got wise to the motorola virus.

Actually, the professional two way of Midland, TruTalk and Maxon are now combined with Topaz3. Not sure if it was Topaz3 that took over Midland or if Midland took over Topaz3.

They deal with the whole spectrum of 2 way communications, but specifically GMRS, FRS and HAM.

I checked, and smokey cat has already posted over there, under the name Soulpanther, a few times in the last week. I guess just fishin' around for help. Wish I could help them out a bit more.

Only 12 volts at 680 amps...why stop there. Try 208/277 volts at 800 amps. Or better yet...if you put the radio into the microwave and think really hard...the waves from your brain (i.e. fequencies, pl's, etc.) will be absorbed by the microwave and burned into the radio. And poof, its programmed. Oh yeah, you gotta put the microwave on either the popcorn or the pizza setting.

Put steel twine on the antenna, tie the other end of the 1500ft steel twine to a helium balloon and let it go in a supercell thunderstorm.

Since this is starting to go south pretty quick....
