TK-790 Mic adjustment?

I have several TK-790(H)'s in use and a couple seem to have lower mic audio than others. Is this an adjustment in the programming or test mode? Or, does this radio need to be opened up?
Thanks.

Read the radio, then go into test mode,f10,modulation deviation.

Most radios need to be bench TUNED.

We have found most of the time that
it was better to put a new radio on
the service monitor before sending it
out in the FIELD.Worked for US.

N5TBU,
Will this adjustment you mention also work for external mic in? We recently had a local Kenwood dealer install a firecom system to a TK-790. Even with its transmit levels turned all the way down, the Firecom system is overdriving the Kenwood. The Kenwood dealer (who is a David Clark dealer) says that there is no mic gain adjustment via programing or hardware in the Kenwood and that the problem is within Firecoms "inferior product". That didnt seem right to me, but I am unfimiliar with details of Kenwood products. It would be nice to take this all back to him and say, "Well, actually...."

What do you think?

The dealer WAS right about the "inferior product" comment.

The Firecon has an internal pot for gain adjustment.

I have no experience with the firecom unit, but if its gain is all the way down and is still overdriving the kenwood, whoever interfaced it needs to try again,if it was a factory interface by firecom, then they need to try again.
There is only the one mic adjustment in the kenwood that will affect both mics.
I wonder if there are some mic impedence jumpers in the firecom that were overlooked? the kenwood has a 600 ohm mic input impedence.

We have a Firecom on our TK-690 in the rescue. It works fine. Someone needs to read the manual and do it correctly :)
