HT-1000 side tone?

I have several UHF HT-1000's. Most of them, when keyed, have a very short audible high pitched tone sound, as if to tell you it is ok to speak. I cannot find this anywhere in the program. We use MDC ID Post transmission, not pretransmission. I would like them all to do this. Any ideas what this is called and where exactly it is in the program.
Thanks.

When you get your codeplug loaded into RSS, and are at the "change/view" screen, select "F3", then "F7", then "F3". The PTT sidetone option is on that screen. I would personally like that feature a lot better if I could change the duration of the tone.

if your department uses post id you will not get this tone, the tone is only sent out for pre-key id OR you could set the ht to pre and post id then you would get the talk permit tone and the ID sent out twice.

Well, I tried setting up my brother's HT1000 with the PTT sidetone, although it didn't even have a signalling format enabled, and it worked. We disabled it again because of what I said earlier. The duration of the tone isn't adjustable.

You guys know how the get the "nextel style" beep-beep-beep when keying up like with the P25's? I heard a MTS2000 model II do that.
Is there a specific name for that "grant" tone?

Then it is not a side tone. We use post ID. When the radio is keyed, a very short, high pitched beep is heard approx 3/4 of a second after you press the PTT. What is this beep, and how is this programmed? It really is a nice feature, as it keeps people from speaking too soon....

That's the talk permit tone and I think it's only available on the trunking radios.

I know for a fact we do not have a trunked system. UHF repeater. Yet, we still are able to get this "Talk Permit" tone.
Any other ideas?

Sounds like the good ol' MDC1200 tone, the keyup beep should be located under the MDC menu

Depending on the radio model, the sidetone is available for a number of features in addition to MDC pre ID. For instance, if you program what M calls a "singletone" or "RAT" (repeater access tone) (we used to call it burst tone), the radio will emit a singletone for the duration of the programmed burst.
