console work with bucket seat only.

You mean the Jottodesk console that replaces the ash tray? You don't have to remove the seats on the bench-seat to slide it in. You just need a lot of patience and slowly wiggle it in and not scratch up the dash.
See my JottoDesk posting a few links down (EF Johnson) for reference pictures.

I've been thinking about adding a jotto desk in my Impala as well.
I have the 60/40 bench, and my only concern is, How far forward will the drivers seat go with the console installed? When my wife drives the car the seat needs to be pretty close to all the way forward.
Can anybody that has installed one tell me, am I SOL, or will the seat still go most of the way forward?

I wouldn't say you're SOL, I'd say you've got the perfect way to keep your wife from driving your car. I don't have the seat issue - my wife sits as far back as I do (long legged wives are sSOOOOO nice to have!) She just won't allow herself to be seen driving my Ranger with the antennas on it.
I kept her from driving my last car by not ever teaching her how to drive a stick shift.
Perfect, see?

I could SO run with this but think I'll let it lie where it is.

When we had 2 cars my wife didn't like driving mine either because of "all that radio stuff".

				Console in '04 Impala

We picked up an '04 9C3 Package Impala from GM with the 60/40 spilt and needed the "trans hump" open between the seats to install demo equipment. As we had no desire to spend $1200-$2500 for new buckets, a quick peek under the seat revealed that there was just a flimsy frame supporting nothing more than fabric. Some minor modifications and voila! we have buckets! The "60" is nothing more than a false extension/cover from the DS "40". Granted this is a 9C package, but I would think all the bench seats are constructed the same way. May be worth a look.

If that chevi is new, see if your dealer will give you a refund. Then, get yourself a real XTL5000 transporter---a 2005 CVPI. Make sure to get the optional halon trunk kit so you won't go KaBoom if someone taps your rear end.
Good Luck!
