Does the MT-1000 radios take the same battery as the HT-600? Thanks.

Yes.
MT1000,ht600,p200, and a host of other share the same battery

Different colours, if it makes a difference:
NTN5414 - light beige for the HT600
NTN5447 - darker grey for the MT1000
There's other part#'s for different capacities, intrinically safe, etc...but they can all be interchanged between the two radio models.
