Walka Talka Frequencies

Does anyone know what frequencies the Motorola Walka Talka radios work on?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only Mother 'M' could come up with a name as stupid as 'Walka Talka.' Sounds like a bizarre cross between stereotypical bad Italian and Rasta-speak.

...the 'Walka Talka' series appears to be marketed pretty much overseas, primarily in Australia. My guess is that it's their local equivalent of FRS or UHF itinerant frequencies.

Haven't been able to find anything on actual frequencies just yet, but I will say that Motorola's sales brochure makes the laughable claim of 16 "private channels."

Anyone else know anything about this? The radio itself looks like a toy to me.

Info is limited @ best, but I did find that they're VHF, 148-150mhz.

Go to Motorola Australia and its shown there. Rick Rock is correct they are VHF units in the range of 148-150, the details are otherwise incomplete. There doesn't appear to be any info on power output or actual frequencies. But, i suspect its AU's version of FRS and they are low power 500mw units.

If you live in Australia and have one of those radios, then yes.

I figured it was a half watter like FRS.

I've been looking and i can't find the frequencies listed anywhere. Your best bet would be to get a hold of one and find out if its in the owners manual or other documentation with the radio.

If nothing else you could always transmit to a frequency counter and find out what each channel is.

Where it says 'Find', select 'Licenses', and search for ambulatory licenses under the following callsigns. There's only a handful here, but I think I'm on the right track.

VLF780
VLF786
VLF787

The ACA hasn't set aside any itenerant VHF channels that I know of. The itinerant channels are all UHF, AFAIK.

There is no public access FRS/CB style VHF band in Australia.

gday all how are we all this fine evening ? i have a gp203 and a Walka talka radio here and the apropriate cloning cable and software , i can read the gp203 with no hassles at all but when i go to read the walka talka it comes up with "cloning inhibited"? has anyone had any experiance with these radios ? is there lab software available to buy from M? there has to be a way around this cloning inhibited problem

i gues they have done this from factory so ppl cant acces the VFO part ofthe radio and also 5 watts high pwr, if anyone has any helpfull info please respond back , thanks for all the users time who read this post
