Is this Minitor III a 1 or 2 channel pager?

Post by vivid- »

When loaded into the programmer, the model number has ? marks in it.

Minitor 3 - Stored Voice
A03??S94?2AC

Serial #:
MR3BWG24Z5

Was sold to me via ebay advertised as 2 channel. but I can not get the second channel to program. Not to mention that the pager doesnt page at all. If I can prove that this is a 1 channel, and not a 2 channel. I will have more of a chance of getting my money back, thanks

I couldn't find a model chart, so this will help if it'a a 1 ch.

http://batlabs.com/minitor.html
To turn a 1 channel pager into a 2 channel pager:

read and save a codeplug (.dat file)
edit .dat file at offset 2CCh from 1 channel to 2 channel
load the new 2ch .dat file into the RSS and change the info you want for channel 2
re-save the .dat file
edit the .dat file back to 1 channel
load the .dat file back into the RSS and program the pager

The software will still think the pager is 1 channel, but the channel 2 info is still there, and gets programmed into the pager. You will be able to read and program the pager fine, but if you want to make changes to the channel 2 info, you will have to modify the .dat to allow the RSS to edit the fields again.

The question marks in the model number indicate a corrupt codeplug.

It could very well be a hacked codeplug also and maybe have the common alerting problem.

1st step is to list how many positions the selector switch has: A and B, or A,B,C, and D?

2nd step is in the progrmaming does it show up with the two freq for changing or just the one?

3rd step is to program in some sort of capcode you can test with and place the pager into monitor mode and see if the pager hears the tones and does not go off, or if it does not hear the tones at all. (Best to do this during pager test in order to test reception also via the poor man route.)

4th and final is to see if the SN in programming matches the serial number on the outside of the case. If tags are gone it maybe had a new case put on there or it may have just been ripped off.

Lately I have seen a rash of hacked 1 channel M3 and M4's out there. If people do it right then it can work ok however if they do it wrong then you might as well use it as a door stop.

Let us know what those answers are and we can try to help you fix it if you can not return it and get your money back.
