I know this is not motorola related, but hope someone can help.....
I just installed a kenwood dual band single head radio. The radio powers appears to have a power up message as it comes up "AMB 3", however i can't find in the programming anywhere to change it.
Any thoughts ?

I don't have the 690/890 software handy. I think that software is similar to the TK290/390 software. Look under optional features, then look for
" Power on text" . It's at the bottom of the first column. Some older versions of that software may not have that feature. Some older radios don't have that feature.

Yes... you're probably using the old DOS version. There's a newer Windows version.
Vern gave you the right place to go look.

Is the version numbered the same. I have the windows kg-56d, but that doesn't do the 90 series. Is it still KPG44D for the windows version ?

YES KPG-44D is still the model #.
The power on text is located in the options area.

The early version 90 series mobile radios did not support power-on text. Additionally the early versions of software did not support this option either.
The latest version of DOS KPG44D is version 1.40
The first version of windows KPG44D is version 2.01
The latest version of windows KPG44D is version 2.02
You will need one of these two versions to be able to edit the power-on text.

This is a motorola board - I understand a lot of the people have information on other models of equipment, however, this forum is for "General Motorola Discussion."
I'll let this topic go, however, please refrain from posting OT things here.
Thanks,
Alex
