The battery part number is right on the battery. They are called Li Coin cells, 3 volts. I also found a way to keep the key and be able to take the board out of the radio for as long as needed. My need was for repairing the rest of the radio.

How do you do that, Will? With a good battery on the carrier board, can you program the radio to retain the key with loss of power?

Yes, the batteries come with leads.

I will get the photo of the jumper needed to retain the KEY even with the board out of the radio. (who can host the photo?).

Hi Will. My board is a little different, HLN6345A. But looking at your pic, it looks like the jumper basically grounds the - side of the battery to a ground bus on the carrier board. Looking at my carrier board, this ground function is completed by the radio when the board is installed, but when the board is removed, the ground disappears. Is this correct? If the jumper is installed, would that drain the carrier board battery sooner, if the radio sat without power? Thanks for your help, its been great.

that board looks like the HLN6000B one

Yes, the jumper is the - side of the battery to ground on the board. It should not drain the battery any sooner than if it was installed in a radio without power applied.

If there is power applied to the radio the battery is not suppling any power to the 'chip'.
