I have a HT1250 with a full keypad. I am a volly EMT and would like to set it up to use with the Hospital Emergency Ambulance Radio (HEAR) to call in to the hospital and give patient reports. I have all the info for the hospitals in my area but have no clue how to set it up. Can somebody walk me through this are let me see a codeplug that has it set up? Thanks.

Mike,
in CPS, on HEAR, put csq for BOTH pl's. Then under id, put transmit DTMF. Under call, and dtmf. make sure it is enabled. I have it set up on my ht1250 for the monmouth county hospitals, but w/out the keypad. Not that they answer anyway! I take it your a volley in NJ? Which county? I wouldn't advise using a portable as your primary, it wount reach from far away even if they do answer.

HEAR Decoders
The first Hospital Emergency Administrative Radio Decoders were using 1500 Hz Rotary Tone Pulsed to open the Base Station Receivers because the two-way radio equipment 35~40 years ago didn't have the luxury of multiple PL Encoders. The 1500 Hz Tone Pulsed Encoders / Decoders gave way to DTMF Encoders / Decoders. Now with Homeland Security Administrative personnel in the picture, they are requesting to have a combination of DTMF and 1500 Hz Tone Pulsed Encoders / Decoders between the Subscriber units and the Base Stations. Practically all of the Subscriber radios can send any PL or DPL to open a hospital's ER Base Station receiver so we're taking a giant leap backwards with the Homeland Security Administrative request. Furthermore the HSA with the APCO P25 Type II Standard can not operate in this mode.
A word of advice, make sure the HEAR Radio Systems haven't changed to the combination of DTMF & 1500 Hz Tone Pulsed Decoders.

I have an HT1000 with a DTMF pad and have no problem using it in upstate NY (for both HEAR and repeater access codes). I know that in order to use the DTMF function on the HT1000, it has to be in the non-scanning mode (Set to B in my radio) and you have to press the phone icon. I'm not too familiar with the HT1250 software, but I do have hunch that good ol' /\/\otorola didn't change that much.
Another thing you have to know is what DTMF sequence the radio alerts to. In Upstate NY, it's the three digit disposition code that we use (ie, St Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse is 334 and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester is 278) Check out http://www.health.state.ny.us/nysdoh/em ... es/map.htm for all of NYS hospital codes.
Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for the info. I will try to play around with it tonight and see what happens. If anyone has any thing else or even would let me see their code plug (even the HT1000) i would greatly appreciate it. You can email me directly if you need to: [email protected]
Thanks again
