GP300 DTMF

Post by Scruff »

Greetings to the group

I have a GP300 UHF 16 ch. I just installed a DTMF kit to it.
When I read the radio it does not indicate that radio has DTMF installed. I have done this in the past with my VHF version but I can not remember what procedure I went through. Can I program another code plug into this radio that has DTMF?, or is a model number thing.
Any help is appreciated.

Yes you can clone the reading of another GP300 that has DTMF as long as its the same model number.

If the 16ch radio you have did not have the DTMF option from the factory then it does need the added programing to the code plug to do DTMF but as you read above a reading from one with DTMF cloned back into your radio as long as its the same model number will do the trick quite nicely.

If you clone another radios clone plug in you will need to go back and program your 16 ch freqs back to your original programming as the cloning will change all freqs to the other radios programming.

DTMF programming

Post by Scruff »

Thanks EKLB for response
If I try to program the radiowith the DTMF in it but a different model number will it reject it? If so ( and I suspect this is the case) I will have to find someone that has a code plug I need, any susgestions where I might find my models code plug that DTMF?
I might add that the code plugs I have are very similar except for the last couple of digits.

You might want to post both model #'s, believe all GP300's ended in AA.
The 2 just before these determine channel capacity and bandsplit and need to match for a clone to work. Tell us what you have.

Hi Radiosouth thanks for respnse.
The GP300 model number I am trying to get the DTMF working on is P94YPC00C2.
The other code plug I have in my archive on the computer is P94YPC20D2
I have tried to use the TK program to convert the radio but when I pick the model I need with the proper band split it comes back and shows a band split much higher from where I started, so I have to back to RSS and reload my original code plug for this model. I am sort of stumped here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Scruff

From the model number you posted ( P94YPC00C2 ) you have a 12.5 narrow band at 16ch capability.

The model number ( P94YPC20D2 ) Is a 25 khz wide band at 8ch capability.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLONE THE WIDE BAND READING INTO THE NARROW BAND !

Program should show a error indicating model mismatch.

I believe i may have the reading you need to get the 00C2 up and running for you .

I do see that both radios should be in the 438 to 470 mhz spread but you dont have the exact model number to clone with.

PM me with your email address and ill see what i can do.
