Parts needed for Dual Head Spectra?

I presently have a dash mount Spectra that I would like to convert to dual head operation. Reading through some messages, I'm not sure if it can be done, or what I'll need.

I've found the part numbers for the X9000 control head, and the rear control head (Rear NPD Replacement), but nothing on cables, conversion kits, etc.

Do I need a high power radio to make this happen, or do I need to change the firmware? Would it be easier to just buy a dual head capable Spectra?

Thanks for any help!

First it depends on what type of Spectra you are trying to convert. What is the ID from your radio?

There are no dash mount A9, B9 or C9 Spectra radios so you would have to convert your radio into a remote mount with 2 DB-25 connectors on the front of the radio. Then you would have to convert it into an A9, B9 or C9 radio (depending on what you are after). This is the really hard part I can not help you with.

A HLN6161C interface board will add 2 DB-25 connectors for a non-secure radio. A HLN6186C interface board will add 2 DB-25 connectors for a secure radio. You will have to get new front plastic for the interface board as well.

The cables for the A9, B9 or C9 heads are either a HKN4355B (22' long) or a HKN4356B (17' long). One rear control head cable is a HKN4378B.

If you have or add a Siren/PA or VRS then you need a HKN4376B cable instead of the HKN4378B cable for the rear control head (you also need the HKN4363C Spectra Siren/PA or HKN6038B VRS cable).

I can tell you it would be much easier to start with an A9, B9 or C9 (again, depending on what you are after) low, medium or high power radio.

If you provide more information on your radio (ID number, current control head, control head configuration, firmware version, etc.), the local Spectra gods should be able to tell you what you need to do to convert it into a Systems 9000 control head radio.
