A few GP300 parts queries

Hi guys,

A few queries on GP300 for you - mainly parts

1: Are GP battery contacts available from Motorola? We have a couple of radios missing the ground contact. Does anyone have a surefire way of making sure they solder on correctly - I always spend ages trying!

2: I have a keypad GP300 clone on my desk (these radios were made by Motorola for a client in 1994 & based on the GP300 with special firmware) the keypad & display unit is totally U\S - 1994 manuf date on the radio & the unit part number (HLN6340A) doesnt appear to match anything I have found - any ideas on where I might find one - or even better, whether a standard GP300 keypad\disp unit would work?

From Memory they are 5 Tone (DTMF, trunked with a direct mode channel) models.

3: Finally, I have lost the parts listing & schematic for the 2 transitor \ 2 resistor simple programming cable - does anyone have any clue where I might find both?

Sorry for so much waffle - all ideas appeciated.

TIA

More information can be found on BatLabs.com. Look under Model Specific and under GP300 5 tone, or GP300/350.

I also remember the programming cable you mention is there too.
Look under the RIB information.

Nothing relating to the keypad part number that I can see...

Thanks, I am struggling to find a list of suggested components though?

Contact part number is 3980188R01 for either one. When replacing ground contact use a lot of heat. I use 800 degrees on my Pace MBT.

Thanks for the hint Arlo, I'll give it a try.

GP-300/P-110 parts...

Since both the GP-300 and P-110 are the same radios, the part numbers should be interchangeable as well.

BATTERY CONTACTS: 3980165S01<---unsure why this number is different from the number I listed below, check for part # accuracy if replacing.

FUSE: 4amp 6505663R04

LEADFRAME(6used): 0780102S01

HOUSING, OPTION JACK:1580413C01

HOUSING, COVER OPTION JACK:1580414C01

CLIP, BUTTERFLY: 428013R01(holds RF shield in place)

DTMF BOARD(option): 0180704Y27

SHIELD(option board):2680953Y01

CONTACT, BATTERY B+/B-: 3980188R01(different somehow?)

Lower front main board solder connections:
1. SCI+

2. +5V

3. SLAVE ENABLE

4. - 7. N/C

8. GND.

Manual number: 6880902Z30-C (P110) (GP300 is the same manual)
Only difference is the reference to the HOUSING and BATTERY which is different.

Some other options may have different part numbers, but the MAIN BOARD is the same, as are the parts used.

The P110 and GP300 are the SAME RADIO with different cases used.

I have NO reference to a DISPLAY model anywhere in the manual, only the DTMF option is shown, as are the schematics for the rapid and slow charger.

I hope this helps you, all numbers are from the P110 service manual and should work for the GP300 as well, aside from the listed differences noted.

73!

Ernest,

That is an excellent post - thank you so much :) - Has probably saved me alot of hunting for some of the other repair jobs that we seem to have in this company!

Many thanks again
