Does anyone know what type of technology is used in "Eavesdrop Eliminator" FRS/GMRS Talkabouts? Is it DVP, Securenet or something of the like?

Also I thought FRS/GMRS was like Ham operation, with thumbs down for any scrabled/encrypted/coded transmissions.

Its those cheapie voice scrambler, that make it sound like donald duck, just very bad lol, need to check those radio out, who makes thsoe anways, wanna get one an djust take the damn thing apart,

I have seen some of both Motorola and Kenwood have voice inversion scramblers. Not very hard to decode. If you want encryption, use a Saber and use DES, DVP, DVI or whatever is your fancy.

I'm not sure, but I think that it's just another name for CTCSS squelch. It eliminates evesdropping about as well as Private Line squelch made transmissions 'private'.

There's been a lot of misnomers used to describe FRS radios. Probaby due
to the fact that they're be marketed by folks that probably have close to
zero knowledge on the topic. PL/DPL has been described as 'Privacy Codes' (actually think some of the manuf. are calling them that also).
Also I've seen some genuises stating they have 532 channels (14 freq X
38 codes). Cobra does offer 'scrambling' in some of their models and I was also surprised to see scrambling offered on many marine radios.

Its definitely not PL, because that is a separate feature in the features list. Motorola usually describes it as 14 channel X 38 privacy codes.

This specifically says here it "Scrambles" your voice so that it is unintelligible to others sharing the channel.

Its definitely not Securenet, because it has to be cheap. These radios go for like $100 a pair. but I'm sure it is some other sort of motorola technology because they aren't exactly known for using other's technology.

Voice inversion is the most likely answer, but I haven't heard any of these radios in action to know for sure.

Pl and DPL are devices progammed in radios for many years.
When u place PL (ctcss) or Dpl into a radio then the audio to the speaker is filtered out, until the correct tone that was programmed
is present ,then u hear the message.However with a scanner or cs on the receiver then u hear any message.Privacy
is not the same.There are many types of signalling being used.
The FRS radios can use both. It is the cost that makes the difference.
