Is it possible to upgrade an "Astro Ready" (analog only) Astro Saber I to operate in IMBE/APCO P25 mode without having Motorola flash it? Can the direct write without unpack trick work?

That trick may work, however is the HOST/DSP verisons are not high enough, certain option may not work, or work properly.

The only thing VSELP & IMBE have in common is the fact that they are both digital representations of analog audio. However, the methods used to do this conversion are completely different for each of them. Might as well try & get your dog to talk to your cat, it's probably easier.

Yosh, you may want to check out this thread & read BK117's post in regards to Host/DSP versions.

VSELP and IMBE radios can talk to each other on a ANALOG channel :)

You guys crack me up! I guess my bubble has popped. But, my dog and cat talk do in-fact talk to each other, Todd...

Thanks for the help.

Speaking of Astro Saber upgrading, does anyone have an "older" codeplug that 3.04 will read? Need one besides the LAPD types floating around. Preferably UHF or VHF, no 800.

Thanks.
