discriminator tap

i am looking to find a discriminator tap on a spectra and a gtx i have search but could not find any thing clear.

There's a RAW RX AUDIO pin on the accessory jack of a GTX mobile. This is as close as you'll get to a discriminator output. See the GTX article over on repeater-builder.com in the Motorola section.

On the Spectra, you could get it off the RF board, as that's whats fed to the command board for all the processing. On some radios, you can get this signal out to the accessory jack by playing with some zero-ohm chip resistors (aka jumpers). Not quite as easy as on the GTX. The detailed service manual will help you locate the proper pin or configure the jumpers.
