DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY NEW INFORMATION ON THE FIELD PROGRAMMABILITY OF THE HT1550? OR WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO RELEASE THAT INFO?

Here's what I have heard:

Motorola told me a couple months back on the phone that they were not going to release the field programability functions until the JT1000's were discontinued.

Code3Response found some information the other day that said that Motorola would soon release the battery that's needed to make the 1550 programmable. I think it said late this year. I'd have to do some digging, or you can search for HT1550 on the board, and find the info.

I dont even remember where I heard it from, but it was a reliable source.... saying the JT1000 would be discontinued in late October I think, then they would start sellling the special battery.

Try calling the Motorola Products Support Group!

They are a good source for information on high tear radios. I have always had good luck when calling them about certain radios.

Anyone care to guess on what the MSRP will be on this new battery with the chip to enable field programmability ? When it comes out we'll see who was the closest (yeah I know the winning guess +$1.50 will get you
on the NYC subway system). My guess is $188.00
