I am looking into buying an astro xts. What is the difference between the xts 3000 type 3 and the xts 3500 type 3.

Careful with those XTS 3500's, they had a big recall early in the first run, it was an issue with the batterys and the cahrgers or something. The batterys had juice coming out of the charging contacts on th batterys, good way to get blown up at a gas leak scene!

The 3500 only comes in VHF and UHF while the 3000 comes in VHF, UHF, and 800. The 3500 is supposed to be a better performer on VHF and UHF also.

I haven't been able to get a straight answer from any of the sells guys. They do say that the performance is suppose to be better then the 3000's, BUT not better enough to justify the extra expense. I do not know off the top of the head what the cost difference is, but they take the same accessories, but different RSS.
