What radios do you own?: Various APX series

Basic Questions...

Post by fireradio »

I have some basic questions about Astro equipment (hopefully they haven't been asked too much before -- I couldn't find them on batlabs.com).

1) How can I put (XTS3000 and Astro Spectra) into a test mode so that it will show me info such as flashcode/ serial number/ DSP/ Host/ etc

2) What are the minimum requirements of HOST and DSP versions to get a radio to do IMBE on a smartnet or smartzone system? (for XTS3k or Astro Saber)

Thanks, I hope these questions aren't too dumb.

Also -- If anyone is looking to get rid of an Astro portable that will do 800 MHz IMBE/Smartnet/Conventional, let me know -- I may be able to help you get rid of it :D

Try a seach using "HOST" and/or "DSP" I believe all your questions will be answered. I can't remeber what the min's were, but last time I looked it up, I used the search and it was easy to find.

IF you were to have a VSLEP radio or were to upgrade the radio the proper way, the flashupgrade would update the firmware to what it needs to be..

Don't know about the astro spectra, but on the 3000.. Press the feature button (not sure which one, but it's one or the other) on the side of the radio, 5 times, within 10 seconds of powering the radio up.
It's the button directly above the PTT. The one with two raised squares.

Press the home key on an Astro Spectra five times to get into service mode, unless it is a W3, then press the same key as on the XTS3K

Regarding your question about minimum host/dsp versions, the answer depends on what you're asking. If you man IMBE voice a non-9600 digital trunked system, then the answer is anything better than host version 4.0.0 will work. I believe the DSP version is 6.x.x. For Astro Spectras the host version has to be 8.0.0 or newer.

If you ment IMBE on a 9600 control channel or Omnilink, then host version for Astro Sabers have to be much newer. Like 7.x.x or something. I believe the corresponding Astro Spectra version number jumps to 11.x.x. Also, you'll need 1Mb vocons for thiese.
