Sounds like a kicker of a battery. It'd probably run my radio for days!

My thin, 2.75Ah 9862Bs run my radio for days, even with heavy TX usage...

I just receive the new Impres HI-CAP Lithium-ion # NNTN6034A. Thought I would post a couple pictures. It's has a nicer looking case, little different then the others. I didn't weight it, but it feels like it's a little liter than the others. Can wait to get it all charged up!

it weights 8 1/2 ounces from what I understand, and since it's li-ion they don't need as much space to fit in the cells

But it is, indeed, a full-thickness battery... not the cut-in/slim case like the 9862Bs.

Well duh, it is a 4+Ah battery

Just put the battery on the scale and it weighted 8 oz. One pound for the NTN8299A Nick Metal Hydride battery. It's on the charger as I'm typing this out. Give it a few days and I will let you know how it preforms.

As much as I would like one of those, how does one rationalize a $155 battery to their signifcant other? Especially since you can pick up an /\/\ 4500Mah, NiMh,FM Approved battery (still in date) from flea for $15?

Having said that, anyone who finds the new LIon unnaccetaple, please ship it first class too.......

$155 isn't bad at all.

My Thales25 battery is $240.

And my last one is just about dead.

Have you carried one of those 4Ah NiMHs? They're *bricks*. They feel like they weigh about 10lbs. They self-discharge rapidly, most aren't impres units (which is enough reason all on its own), etc.

And, $155 is list. Lots of people here can do significantly better.

Just updating all of you on the Battery Charge Life / Usage so far. I charged it the first time 11/20 (took several hours) and I would say an average 10/90, Talk/Receive cycle time to date. The battery shows a RatedCap 40%, Rem.Cap = 1687 amp hours. I am still on the first charge. Man, I can't even get close to that with my NNTN4436B package. The weight difference is very noticeable too. If you can love a battery pack then, I love it, YES! I LOVE IT!!

I have 8 of them on my desk... Very VERY nice looking suckers. Nice that they ditched the stupid impress stickers which just wear off.

I would say you could put two together to equal the weight of one ni-cad.

They look pretty sweet.

OH well, too bad I don't get to keep one for myself...

I agree.

I peeled the IMPRES stickers off on every battery I came across. They annoyed me.

I've found the 4mah NIHM kinda flaky too often self discharging very fast. They are heavy suckers too. New LION's are on my buy list.

Downside to NiMH... high self-discharge rate. LiIons are wonderful things... of course, they turn into small bombs.

That's a decent price IMHO. Considering a $1500 laptop, the battery is usually $200+

I just may have to pick up one of these after a few people comment on them.

How much lithium is in one of these?

Just wondering because if it contains more than 8g, you can't carry them on a passenger flight. (With QANTAS at least.)

I know I'm bringing up and old post, but...how did you ever get that much life out of the battery? I just got one, am using an Impres charger with v3.4 firmware, and the best I've gotten out of it is 36 hours with little TX before the battery "chirp of death" came through the speaker.

Don't get me wrong - it's a great, light battery, but...Days of use?

Did you notice that battery life increased after a few charges?

They'll do better and won't self-discharge nearly as quickly. Take a look at the 9862s as well... 2.75Ah, but thin. Pulls the radio up closer to your body, which means I hang it on less stuff.

No I found it was great after the first charge, I charged mine about three weeks ago and it only just went dead lastnight with light use.

Got one for my 5k & have had it on my radio for about 5 days about 6 hours a day!!!

Not from Motorola. There is an aftermarket outfit who make them who advertised in MRT a while back, Wireless Pacific, P/N WP4588C19.

There are still "shorty" batteries available, but bend over if you want OEM.

Almost. There's also an HNN9034 Impres NiCD that's Intrinsically Safe... also has a rated capacity of 2000mAh vs 1800mAh for the 9033

Honeywell has a shorty LiIon battery for the Saber, not on their site yet.

I just picked up a used NTN8818A Li-Ion short pack. I'll let you know how well it works out.


It's been a few days and the NTN8818A battery has good receive life. It's the first short pack I've had on an Astro Saber
that will allow the radio to make it through the day in receive only mode.

But it's not so good for when you're going to be transmitting. It definitely lacks the capacity of your common NTN4595
type battery.

However, this battery I picked up IS used and a couple of years old. I believe that a newer one would be better.
