Hello,

I've been looking around for a cheap one-channel monitor receiver for fixed location use. Given the cost of Minitor II's, I was thinking of using one.

Is it possible to set one up for single-channel monitor use with PL?

What board/whatever do I need for the PL, and does anyone know a source for them?

Thanks,
Jason

The original Minitor was the only one that had a PL option. There were very few when they were cutting edge and are probably just about non-existant now. This would probably be a better choice: Radio Shack Pro-99

The features say it has CTCSS.

I've considered getting just any old discontinued scanner that's in good condition and does CTCSS. However, The issues I have with it are as follows:

1) If at all possible, I'd rather pay the same amount for something newer with less features (I only need 1 frequency).

2) I'd really like something that looks a little less obtrusive.

The original impetus for this was seeing a one-channel receiver on the wall at the local PD HQ. It just has a power switch and volume knob, antenna, and wall-wart power supply, all inside what's really a speaker housing (with speaker of course).

I decided to look for something that would fulfill the purpose, but am also thinking of getting a speaker in a large housing, putting in a 1-channel crystalled receiver board (with an add-on CTCSS kit), putting in a power switch and volume knob, and ending up with a 1-channel receiver built in to a speaker housing.

The Federal Signal Informer has a PL option, but it's a pricey little bugger...it'll set you back $500 or so.

How about a nice Radius M10?
